Ingredients
Hoisin sauce
Fresh lime juice
Lime zest
Fresh basil (finely chopped)
Soy sauce or low-sodium alternative
Honey or maple syrup
Black pepper or chili flakes
Instructions
Add hoisin sauce to a bowl.
This is your base, so choose a decent one. No need to overthink it.
Stir in lime juice and zest.
Mix until smooth and glossy. You should already smell the magic happening.
Add garlic,
basil, and soy sauce. Stir gently so the basil stays fresh and green.
Sweeten and season.
Add honey or maple syrup, then pepper or chili flakes if you want a kick.
Taste and adjust.
Too tangy? Add a bit more hoisin. Too sweet? A splash of lime fixes everything.
